My ESPN.com Page 2 Article: Your Baseball Jersey Is Talking

Many of you will recall that, in April, I wrote a post titled "What Your Yankees Jersey Says About You." It was so well-received that it's been posted on MySpace blogs, circulated via chain e-mails and, at least once, blatantly ripped off by someone who re-wrote the lead to make it look like he created it.

It also caught the attention of a former colleague, now at ESPN.com, who commissioned a similar piece geared toward a more general baseball audience.

So, today I make my ESPN.com Page 2 debut with an article titled, "Your Jersey Is Talking." In it, I riff on the folks poor saps who sport jerseys of since-departed stars, the fans decked out in 12 logos who resemble Christmas trees, wild-card celebratory gear and the like.

Hope you enjoy it.

Congrats, Paul..

You forgot the 12 DVD Collectors set of Red Sox 2004 playoffs. Ahem, I watched the 9th inning of Game 4 just last night. Cough.

Sincerely,
A girl who was wearing her Nomah #5 shirt while watching the final game of the biggest choke in sports history AND who wears her 2004 World Champion hat to the gym all the time. How long will this last? Oh, maybe 84 more years.

We probably have DVD sets of all our World Series victories, too, but no one can afford them all.

Too bad we've never beaten the Red Sox in a big spot, or else I could post a snappier comeback.

Great article. I pimped you out on my blog too.

It reminded me of the time I saw a guy at a Flyers game, when they first acquired Eric Lindros, with a Lindros (88) jersey that said "Great Trade" on the name part. I wonder if that douchebag still wears that jersey to games.

I haven't been over here in a while, but I had to pay a visit after reading that article on Page2. Solid work, man, seriously.

Congratulations!
