How I Would Script a Yankees-Sux Game
I'm not sure Thursday night's victory overshadows a DL-injury to the fourth of our top six starters, but if I was given a pad and pen to script a Yankees-Red Sux game, it would go something like this...

Giambi homer. Sheffield homer. Alex "True Yankee Whom the Red Sux Tried to Get First" Rodriguez clutch homer off sports radio's Curt From Beantown. Mariano blows ... not the save, but ... everyone away.

My answering machine is on call to see if Joe Torre wants me to start Sunday evening's game.

And we held Ortiz to only one home run. That was solid.

And, in conclusion ... Curt Schilling would have to pitch 147 straight scoreless innings (18 runs in 18.2 innings) to match the 0.98 ERA of Mariano "Did Anyone Order the Casket?" Rivera (4 ER in 36.2 innings).

Hey, it's better than Keith Foulke. (208 innings at last count.)

It's too bad Rivera is all washed up. Last year, he would have struck out 4 batters in the 9th instead of only 3.

Do you think Al Leiter will be the man for Sunday's game. If that's the case, he'll pitch five innings and it'll take three hours to get through. But he can't be any worse than Darrell May and Tim Redding.

Leiter can't be any worse, but can he be any better? Is there anyone even out there who could be any better?

Maybe we'll get lucky and have the next month rained out.

yeah it's mussina and johnson and pray for rain, just like the braves back in the day with warren spahn and johnny sain.

I suppose if a Red Sox fan scripted it, it might be the second 17-1 drubbing of the season with David Wells on the mound and A-Rod going hitless. Maybe...

I wouldn't know. I don't read Sux fan sites to see what they think.

Next two games are big. We leave Boston either 1/2 game back of the Sux, 2 1/2 games back or 4 1/2 games back. Simple as that.

Orioles have won four straight? Who knew?

The DLed starters could be a death blow. We've had a lot of guys try to spot start this season and only Wang came through. Then he goes down.

I thought you said you really liked dirtdogs? That's not a fan site?

4 1/2 back sounds right to me....with the prediction of an incident of some sort happening today...

Well... another big win for the Yanks last night... but Randy still just doesn't seem right. I wonder if he'll be the RJ everyone thinks he can be before this season is over... or if this is the best we'll see from the guy.

The Red Sox are going to regret not putting more space between them and the Yanks when New York was REALLY struggling. Instead, the Sox are stuck in a danger zone. A Yanks win tonight coupled with a O's win puts the three teams within a half game of each other.
