I've never been to the Idiot or New York for that matter but I know too well the sting of a watering hole closing (tear). I feel for you PK & all the other New Yorkers that have to drink in some strange place.
Paul,
I truly hope you only consumed bottled beer in that pit....
Jeff
Yep, bottles and cans, almost exclusively, for me.
But it's rare for anyone to leave there without doing a shot or two or five. You just try not to think about the last 400 people to have drank out of the same glass.
I'm telling you the whole world has gone to shit. When the dive bars go way...civilization is soon to follow. Slowly but surely, someone out there is trying to get rid of the white man and they're starting with the dive bars.
There was a place like that (well, sorta, in a laid-back small southern beach way) on the gulf coast beach where I grew up, literally called...The Shack. Barely room to breathe, and to be honest I'm not sure if they even had bathrooms- I never dared to investigate, and for a girl that's saying something.
I always told myself that the 151 that floated on the top of the bushwackers we all sucked down like they were cups of water on a 100degree day killed the germs in the glass. I'm still here, so it must've been true..
I know you must have been there and drinking hard- I can always tell when you're looped because you can't type for shit in your email. Heh- how's the head this morning????
Feeling good today. Lots of practice.
Tonight I think will be my last trip to the Idiot. If this is what a Thursday night looked like, Saturday will have a line outside and down the block..
dang. i hadn't been to the Village Idiot in about 4 years... my crew from methodfive and i used to go there a lot... dang.
