Photos: Bronx Zoo
As far am I'm concerned, there's only four reasons to visit the Bronx:

1. To see the hospital where I was born. And if anyone knows which one it is, let me know, 'cause I have no idea.

2. To see the 26-time World Champion Yankees, preferably late in a tight game against the Red Sox with some scrub at the plate.

3. To eat at White Castle for the scariest yet most satisfying NYC experience this side of the Cyclone.

4. To visit the Bronx Zoo, a man-made jungle in which you walk all day, run into wild animals and screaming children and otherwise withstand a pungent stench. You'll never know you're in the Bronx!

Anyway, I took a trip to the zoo Tuesday and posted 16 pictures. Have a peek.

(As an added bonus, you might want to check out some recently posted photos of the Jersey Shore and Central Park.)

* The scrubs I was thinking of were Bucky Dent (at Fenway), Aaron Boone in the 2003 ALCS and the deadly combo of Miguel Cairo and John Flaherty on that glorious Thursday night this year.

* I'd be depressed, too, if I was a polar bear in the Bronx with kids yelling at me every time I tried to take a nap. Though the zoo was empty Tuesday and he was allowd to dream in peace of Randy Johnson in pinstripes.

* My camera is a Canon S30, an average camera nowadays, with 3.2 megapixels, but very powerful features that I have no idea how to use. Really, I hardly know what I'm doing.

I thought you were going to avoid hanging out at zoos with a camera.
The pictures are always great!

For someone who once left me a comment something to the effect that Red Sox fans are too obsessed with the Yankees and that is just silly because the Yankees will always win, thus we should start worrying about the Devil Rays... you certainly take a lot of unprovoked swipes at the Red Sox. Admit it: you're just as obsessed.. you secretly fear us! Our day will come and you know it!

I do that to see how many times I can rag on thw Sox and still have their fans come back.

New Englanders (and New Yorkers, too) amuse me greatly when they go on and on (and on and on) about restaurants that I've been eating at for years and years. First it was Krispy Kreme that y'all were going hog wild over; now it's White Castle. You'd think there wasn't any decent fast food up there before the South and the Midwest mosied into your neck of the woods.

I'm just waiting for Maid-Rite to get to Manhattan...

I used to love going to the zoo as a kid back in Indianapolis. The polar bears were my favorites. You got some really good pictures of them, and the rest of the animals. Well done.

I think the answer is well over 86 years. Sheesh.. if we were going to roll over and die from such slights it would have happened a LONG time ago. Nothing you could ever write could ever come close to what the actual Red Sox do to us.

If you were born in the Bronx, chances are it was Albert Einstein Hospital.

That is the cutest polar bear picture I've ever seen.

Great zoo pictures.
