The Most Annoying Commercial Ever
Congratulations are in order to dork firefighter and Subway shill Clay Henry, who is no longer the star of the most annoying commercial in television history. Gone are the days when my ears bled with the unavoidable tune that began "Clay Henry! Clay Henry! He's a Subway man and a Jared fan."

Ladies and gentlemen, the newest most annoying commercial ever: Dr. Scholl's Are You Gellin? campaign. (Click the "Outrageous Savings" link on the can't-believe-this-exists Gellin.com to save $2 off your next (also known as first) purchase of Dr. Scholl's massaging gel insoles

Are you gellin'?

I'm gellin' like a felon. Care for some melon?

I'm so gellin', I'm gellin' like Magellan.

Someone kill me. Or them. Just make it stop.

My Most Annoying Commercials Ever:

• Subway, Clay Henry — The Jared wannabe was so annoying that residents of Columbia, S.C. — not always regarded as the capital of good taste — appealed to the "Supreme Judge of the world" to "be Free and Independent of the embarrassment that is the 'Clay Henry' commercial."

• Chevrolet, Like a Rock — I like Bob Seger's music, but I don't need to hear it every single timeout during March Madness. I swear one year I saw this commercial over 100 times over a two-week period.

• Radio Shack, Howie and Teri — Awww, they make such a cute couple. Now if only they'd say something remotely humorous and not nauseating.

My Favorite Commercials Ever:

• Wendy's, Where's the Beef — First aired when I was 9 years old in January 1984, I laughed every time I saw it, and I was too young to appreciate the real humor in an elderly woman bemoaning too little meat.

• Miller Lite, Less Filling, Tastes Great — Screw the new commercials with the bimbos. The classic ones with Bob Uecker and sports stars of greater athletic accomplishment were hysterical. Do I even have to mention that Rodney Dangerfield starred in them as well?

• Budweiser/Bud Light, Bud Bowl — Back when the NFC was pasting the AFC in every Super Bowl (Broncos and Bills fans, you know what I'm talking about), this series was the most interesting part of Super Bowl Sunday. People bet on this shit. Didn't they play off of the Fridge one year and have a 40-oz. run a TD up the middle?

• 10-10-220, 20 Minutes for 99 Cents — Mike Piazza and Hulk Hogan. I can't get enough this stuff. It's truly worthy of the New York Mets.

Bonus Link:

The Lowest Moments in Advertising — AdWeek's newest feature reviews campaigns that were just bad from the start, such as Calvin Klein parading kids around in their underwear and a financial company digitizing Christopher Reeve walking again.

Comments: The Most Annoying Commercial Ever

Hate the Coca-Cola Chritmas tree with all them damn hippies singing about peace and everything. Bunch of peace-nick freaks.

Love the Victoria's Seret wings commercial. Bud Bowl? Save that for the game. Vicky's Sec comes on several times a day and always puts a little cork in my bat.

You know... the early Energizer bunny commercials were classics... until it got overdone. Duracell's response, "The Puttermans" has to rank as one of the worst campaigns ever. The "plastic" people were scary.

Posted by CJ at June 16, 2003 1:01 PM

Favorite Lite commercail was Billy Martin in a western bar saying "I didn't punch that doggie."

Posted by Pat at June 16, 2003 2:58 PM

Do radio commercials count? Those "You go to B&H Photo" ones on WFAN are so inept that I almost get into accidents lurching for a different station preset button.

Posted by Ken Goldstein at June 16, 2003 6:02 PM

*ahem* can you hear me now...

Posted by RP at June 17, 2003 6:11 AM

rp beat me to the punch...that has GOT to be one of the most annoying...

and i'm really still pissed about led zeppelin on the cadillac commercials...just makes me feel too fucking old.

Posted by jen at June 17, 2003 9:29 PM

I nailed that commercial (Dr Scholl's), too. You KNOW it was thought up by some over 40 guy trying too hard to be cool...

Posted by Da Goddess at June 22, 2003 8:39 AM

One of the most annoying commercials I've ever seen are those damn animations of the bear family taking a dump with Charmin bath tissue. I vomit when I see their faces smile with glee as they wipe themselves. THIS COMMERCIAL IS ABSOLUTELY TASTELESS!!!!

Posted by Brendon at July 27, 2003 5:24 PM

Does anyone know where I can purchase a VHS or DVD copy of the Wendy's "Where's the Beef?" commercial?

Posted by MS at August 3, 2003 4:30 PM

Any commercial for Toyota makes me want to vomit.

Posted by at October 13, 2003 2:04 PM

Any Rally's Hamburger commercial since they began their "Ya Gotta Eat!" campaign. Makes me long for their original "Beach-Boyish"-sounding "Rally's when your on the go...Beep-Beep" jingle from the late '80's.
Also, any vehicle commercial that uses the "Matrix-style" action (go real fast, then slow way down). Oh, and I can't go without mentioning that girl convulsing her arms to a dance tune in the passenger seat of a Mitsubishi. She would be walking home, if it was me driving!

Posted by DB at October 16, 2003 12:26 AM

That Zelnorm commercial with all those women showing their nasty-looking bellys! And the music has a "gurgling-sound" to it that is sure to sicken anyone that has been through the symptoms of an upset stomach before. This one is simply in poor taste all the way around.

Posted by DB at October 19, 2003 12:02 AM

Now that you mention it, some of these commercials can make me vomit more than an overweight teenage girl from Westchester. The bottom line is, if you ever watch a cable news channel like Fox, and DONT see the disgusting "Ditech.com" commercial, send me a postcard because it would surly be a miracle!

Posted by John at October 31, 2003 1:53 PM

Definitley the most annoying commercial ever is the Spring Break "Don't Drink and Drive" commercial in which 4 girls sing a horrible rendition of "No Scrubs" by TLC. The commercial lost it's meaning the 6th time everybody saw it. The story behind this is that the strange girl in the white dress was hit by a drunk driver on the way home. I am very sorry for this occurance for the reason that we've had to watch the damn commercial over and over, at least 20 times a day since it's debut in 1999. She is dead, now please, for God's sake, let the commercial die too.

Posted by Ryan at November 11, 2003 4:24 PM

my vote for most annoying commercial has got to be the Dodge Ram commercial. It is that series of commercials where the two hicks pull up along side that arrogant ass in his huge Dodge pickup and they proceed to ask him..... "that thing got a Hemi??" after about the 400th time of seeing this crap....... I have come to the conclusion that I don't care to see this jerk show off with his freaking Dodge anymore!!!

Subway again wins top honors!

The 'hip' blond guy with 5 o'clock shadow and greasy hair. Particularly, the one when he's driving (his mother's?) SUV to a Burger-type drive in, and tries to order a Subway sandwich.

The hilariously hapless drive-thru clerk responds: "Uhh.. That's not on our menu..."

Blond guy: "Not only is it not on your menu, it's not on your radar screen"

Clerk: "We have a radar screen?"

Blond guy and friends drive away, leaving the poor hapless clerk in tears and probably pissing his pants.. CLASSIC!!

footnote: there was an ad with greasy blond guy with a girl named 'Kelly'. She was soooo hot!

Where can I buy the dvd with the new hemi powered ram dodge commercials?

Posted by Brian at December 8, 2003 11:11 AM

I absolutely agree with You that the Zelnorm commercials are very annoying and the music has a gurgling sound too.
I hate the Zelnorm commercials too.

"I just save a bunch of money by switching to Geico!" - Aaaaaarrrggggggghhhh!!

Posted by Paul at February 15, 2004 1:08 AM

The most annoying commerical which also happens to have the most annoying music has got to be the freaky Six Flags Magic Mountain TV commercial with the dancing old man. That unholy music stays in your head!

Posted by Charles at April 18, 2004 1:45 PM

I think the most annoying commercials of all time are those cutesy toddler ploy commercials. Like I'm going to buy your product just because some little kid missing his two front teeth says so or just looks cute on your commercial. "100% juice for 100% kids." 100% shut up... or shut up 100%... one or the other, maybe both. Where are advertsing companies getting their employees. Gyms or military recruitment centers? People need to be less retarded.

Posted by Dick Rodshaft at May 4, 2004 7:23 PM

Hey JC--- why do you hate peace?

Posted by Rob G. at May 4, 2004 11:10 PM

Since someone brought up those freaky Magic Mountain commercials with the old guy, maybe you all can settle a dispute for me. My wife and I are trying to figure out whether the dancer playing the old guy is male or female. Anyone know?

Posted by Three Tee at May 11, 2004 3:04 AM

I think I hate some of you more than any of these commercials.

Althought the "I'm lovin' it" Mc D's campaign is not far behind.

Posted by Ugh at June 6, 2004 11:52 PM

Ok I lied. I only dislike the guy who doesn't like peace. What's your problem man? Peace is good. Give it a chance :-)

Other than that I am pretty fond of the rest of you. Now that I know I am not alone is my disgust of some of these commercials.

Posted by Ugh at June 6, 2004 11:56 PM

Magic Mountain Commercial with Mr Six is the best commerical ever. The dancing is great and so is the person that I think is a woman, Let's see more of Mr. Six. You Go!!!!!!!!

Posted by Sandy at June 22, 2004 4:00 PM

The Geico Commerical with the guy riding in the car with the gecko with the cool music is great. Anyone know who is singing the song, Plus Mr. Six in the Magic Mountain commerical is great!!!!
Dance on. Springs on there feet, I think it is a woman.

Posted by Lynne at June 22, 2004 4:04 PM

The Cingular commercial where the Ahole with the noodle hair keeps interrupting himself to answer the phone. I hit the mute button now on most commercials anyway because they all seem to jam us with rap or other hip hop crap. "bah bah bah bump buhhhh...I'm lovin' it." Lovin McDonalds? I think it tastes like $&it. But it's way cool to eat there homey.

Wow, there's just so many annoying commercials.

I especially hate the one where the kid opens the fridge and then shakes the bottle of orange soda and sprays his mother. That whole scenario that ensues would make such a huge mess, you'd need more than some Viva paper towels to clean it. Not to mention what kind of moron takes out a bottle of soda and stands there shaking it.

The Zelnorm commercials are really annoying too, but then just about every drug commercial is annoying. They always show people having a grand old time while the voiceover cites all of these dire side effects the medicine can have.

Posted by LeV at October 26, 2004 11:07 AM

The commercial for WellPatch.. UGH! There's this big dude on a stage in an empty auditorium, dancing around like a big(ger) William Shatner, and singing some annoying faux-broadway song. When will they stop?!?!

Posted by bigguy1 at January 26, 2005 12:02 PM

The Six Flags guy is a 27 year old male..I worked at Six Flags New England as a sales rep and he came out when they opened a new coaster named after him...They (Donner ad agency who invented the character for S.F) were real assholes about him and tried to be all secretive, but we saw them...I was soooo sick of that music and his creepy face all over our sales materials and kits for the last two years..

Posted by Da Man at August 21, 2005 6:55 PM

Anyone have a copy of the Rally's Hamburger commercial where there is a guy ordering a burger, fries and soda and upon receiving the order something is fishy about his order. He drives off with his order, which he thinks he has gotten, without any mistakes. The music from Jaws begins and he starts getting suspicious, the music gets more intense and he pulls over to check is food bag. Upon seeing that his order was wrong and its a fish sandwich instead of a burger, he yells "Fish!!, WRong Again!" and throws it out of the window of his car into a trash can conveniently marked with the word "FISH" on the side of it..Absolutely hilarious! Anyone have a copy of it?

Posted by johnmartin68 at June 2, 2006 5:02 AM

But anyway, as for annoying commercials..Sy Sperling and the hair growth infomercials.
McDonald's "im loving it"
I agree with the guy who says that the Bears wiping their butt with toilet paper and smiling about it is about the most tasteless and annoying commercial ever.
Drug commercials with their messages about side effects rank up there too.
Chevrolet "like a rock" commercials.(im not a real big fan of Segar in the first place, like a rock was his worst song, ever). The parodies of the song are-a-forming in my head as we speak.
Huggies commercials: The baby that talks like he is this gym freak who wants to take aerobic kick boxing and just get ripped. Do we really need the talking package of Huggies that has the voices of several high pitched voiced small ch ildren on the end of that commercial? I despise that commercial.

Posted by johnmartin68 at June 2, 2006 5:18 AM

The commercial for Ocean Spray diet juice..These guys are just f---ing retarded..or should i say F___tards?
