Since You Care So Much What I Think
I'm mailing in the update today with some things I want to throw at you. Comments always encouraged.

THE WAR
I trust our government collectively, more than individually (if that makes any sense) to make the best decisions they can for our country. Alone they may sometimes be spinmeisters who aren't wholly altruistic, but I feel that top-level politicians' fear of fucking up leads us to take the most sensible route based on the information they have, which is 1,000 times more complex than what I could ever pretend to compute.

I do not feel guilty to be American this week.

MICHELLE'S CONTEST
Our favorite Texas co-ed, Michelle from Michelle's Wonderland, jumped into the No.1 position for D magazine's 10 most beautiful contest soon after I helped give her a boost with Friday's post. She got so many votes over the weekend that she was disqualified over suspicion of foul play. So now she's in the process of proving innocence even though it's perfectly logical that someone with her online popularity — assisted by you horny toads — would fare well in any Internet contest.

MY INTERVIEW
I recently granted an interview to SportsBeerAndBabes.com, and it's featured on the site's index page. In it, I discuss everything from sports cards to Joe Millionaire to Lay the Fuck Off Baseball Month to Nicole Eggert. And if any of you are design experts, give this guy some help. He's got a site dedicated to the most manly topics around, and it looks like it was designed by Boy George.

MY HOUSECLEANING SERVICE
They're AWOL. No returns of my phone calls and e-mails after missing an appointment a couple of weeks ago. And I ain't cleaning this place up myself. Anyone out there got a good maid service in NYC? And I mean a real contact. Don't just say, "I know some Russian chick."

THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
Full coverage on PK.com tomorrow.

Comments: Since You Care So Much What I Think

geeez...i thought i was your favorite texas co-ed...ah...i'm not a co-ed, that might explain the current dissin'! ;-)

and, i have to say that i agree with your take on the government right now. there are many, many times that i am truly grateful for presidential cabinets and trusty advisors, not to mention the political opposition that might perform a little bit of check and balance (or so i always hope).

i might not agree with everything that is going on, but i also know that i am not privvy to a large amount of information (and neither is the american public in general) of things that have caused these decisions to be made.

as far as your housecleaning....well, i can't help you out there. i know no russian chicks, or reputable service to assist you with. i would have assumed that you had girls in skimpy maid outfits dusting your apartment topless - but, i see that i'm wrong in that assumption.

Maid Update: One of the women just showed up this morning. Forget trying to get in a discussion about why she came today or when she'll come again — she speaks no English. But it's a small price to pay to have a clean apartment, because — as stated before — I'm not about to clean it myself.

And I did look for a topless maid once, just for laughs. OK, maybe more than laughs. Couldn't find one.

As Nobel Laureate Friedrich Hayek said, ‘in government, the scum rises to the top.’ Just a differing point of view- there are more than enough politicians to satisfy everyone's opinions...

As for the topless/nekkid cleaning lady....you can't even PAY a woman to get naked for you, Paul?? Heh.

C'mon Katch, let's get our facts straight. I just read that Beer & Babes interview where you brag about making a mint off the 1987 Topps set by selling cards of Benzinger, Seitzer, and Nokes, and speaking as a man with a 1987 Topps Rack Pack case in the attic I can tell you that those were 1988 cards, a complete bust as a set. The 87 Topps set had Bonds, McGwire, Palmeiro, Sierra, Bo Jackson...ah, the memories...

And yeah, I already know I'm a loser.

Ken is right about who had a rookie card in 1987 and 1988. The shows I did were in 1988, so the names I mentioned were selling then, but were not part of the 1987T set. At least someone read that interview. Never thought I'd read my stuff in white script.
