About PaulKatcher.com
Who is Paul Katcher?
Pretty much your average Upper West Side resident. Born Feb. 28, 1973, grew up in Pelham Manor in the New York City suburb of Westchester County. My nationality is American and my religion is capitalism (with a heart, if possible). Sports fan with perspective (they're entertainers, not heroes), Banana Republic and J. Crew cardholder, professional web producer, softball player, magazine collector, with passions that change often (guitar, photography, writing, video games, etc.), lover of dive bars. And I don't put much stock in anonymity, thus the domain name.
Proudest Accomplishments: Never having thrown a punch in my adult life, selling $1,100 worth of baseball cards in eight hours when I was 15, getting published in TIME magazine.
Education: Pelham Memorial High School (Pelham, NY); Syracuse University (the Harvard of Central New York); various adult-ed internet, marketing, music courses around NYC.
In My Music Collection: Very mainstream: Barenaked Ladies, Bruce Springsteen, Third Eye Blind, Bon Jovi, Kid Rock, plenty of southern drinking songs and tons of contemporary country.
Favorite Books: The Great Gatsby, A Drinking Life, The Great Bridge, Our Guys, In Cold Blood, Bonfire of the Vanities, Friday Night Lights, Ball Four, A Civil Action, The Right Stuff.
Favorite Movies: Shawshank Redemption, Dumb & Dumber, Ordinary People, Major League, The Godfather, The Godfather Part II, Back to School.
What will I find on this site?
Most blog entries will read like a quick bar conversation. I might share something fun or interesting or just plain weird that I found on the web. Or it could be about sports or New York, or I may provide a quick review of something I've bought or seen. Overall, the postings are light-hearted, but my serious side comes out when it has to.
How does this site work?
The index page is a reverse chronology of all my posts, and each post gets included in index pages for such sections as Sports, Web Finds, Reviews and New York. So if one of those topics floats your boat, but not the others, I suggest bookmarking the individual sections.
Users can also post a comment to each entry by clicking the link at the bottom of each one. I encourage everyone to participate in the conversation.
How can I contact Paul?
The two easiest ways are by e-mailing paul@paulkatcher.com and by sending an AOL instant message to PaulKatcherCom. All correspondence is welcome.
